The Rhode Island Science & Technology Advisory Council (STAC) has funding available through the Innovate Rhode Island Small Business Fund to assist eligible RI small businesses within the life sciences and engineering sectors.

Companies that have received a federal Phase I Small Business Innovation Research or Small Business Technology Transfer (SBIR/STTR) grant from February 1, 2014 to August 31, 2014 may apply for a matching grant of up to $45,000. Applications are due September 17, 2014.

STAC also has available grants of up to $3,000 to reimburse bioscience and engineering companies for internship stipends and for costs associated with preparing and submitting an SBIR/STTR Phase I proposal. Applications for these grants are accepted on a rolling basis through June 30, 2015 or until funds are extinguished.

Application guidelines for the Rhode Island Research Alliance 2015 Collaborative Research Award Program are also now available.

Through the annual Collaborative Research Grant program, funding is available to support multi-institutional, multi-disciplinary projects that focus on building research capacity and infrastructure across institutions to advance the competitiveness of RI researchers.

This Call for Proposals is in support of STAC’s partnership with the National Science Foundation’s (NSF) Experimental Program to Stimulate Competitive Research (EPSCoR) and seeks projects that align with RI NSF EPSCoR’s thematic research areas of marine life response and adaptation to climate change.
Approximately $800,000 in competitive funding is offered to support proposals that address any of the three EPSCoR research questions related to the overarching question of this agreement: “What are the impacts of climate change on marine life?”

Pre-proposals are due September 26, 2014 with invited full proposals due October 20, 2014. Awards will be announced in early 2015.
