RI Places in Top Third of National Clean Tech Leadership Survey

Rhode Island ranked No. 17 on the 2013 edition of U.S. Clean Tech Leadership Index, scoring highest in the the capital and policy tracks. The report was issued by Clean Edge Inc., a leading clean technology research and consulting firm.  The state index measured each of the 50 states using a 100-point scale, calculated by percentage based on 70 indicators including clean electricity, clean transportation, green building, policy, incentives and venture capital.

Following is how the state scored on each of the three major categories:

  • 18th in Policy which tracks states’ implementation of “important policies”.
  • 14th in Capital which tracks the latest state-level investment activity as well as presence, concentration and “vibrancy of human and intellectual capital”.
  • 28th in Technology which tracks the progress of states’ deployment across three subcategories: clean electricity, clean transportation, and energy intelligence and green building.
