Betaspring Teams Pitch Concepts to Northeast Investors
Published on August 20, 2010
This Thursday marked the end of the second successful, intensive twelve week Betaspring program, a mentoring platform designed to help entrepreneurial start-up teams transform themselves into functional and fundable companies.
Twelve teams comprised of 25 entrepreneurs from around the country pitched their concepts to investors from the Boston and New York area hoping to generate vital seed funding necessary to continue on.
This year‚??s teams delivered unique ideas such as a website that helps college students find jobs, developing a vibrating patch that helps to relieve the sting of needles, and an underwear subscription service for men‚??s essentials called Manpacks.
Betaspring, a brainchild of three successful Rhode Island entrepreneurs, provides teams with mentorship, kickoff funding, and immersion in an intense startup community of like-minded entrepreneurs. With time and dedication, state leaders hope programs such as this will help foster the innovation economy in Rhode Island, eventually replacing manufacturing as the state‚??s economic engine.
