November 30, 2009 in STAC News
University of Rhode Island Oceanography Professor Robert Ballard talked with the top-rated CBS news program "60 Minutes" on Sunday, November 29, 2009 about his most recent deep-sea discoveries, state-of-the-art electronics and navigation systems, and the University's newly opened Inner Space Center, which will serve as a command and control center for ocean exploration.

Dr. Ballard, most famously known for his discovery of the RMS Titanic in 1985 and the battleship Bismark in 1989, has spent over 50 years exploring the ocean and is still going strong. Carefully searching the waters between Turkey and Greece, Ballard's ship, the Nautilus, uses technology that can go down 20,000 feet and cover 98 percent of the world's ocean.
